Praise & Prayer Update, November, 2007 from Hugh & Norma Davis #1A

PRAISE & PRAYER UPDATE

Hugh & Norma Davis - EURCP (EU Review & Call to Prayer) – November, 2007

“Continue in prayer & watch in the same – with thanksgiving” Col. 4:2

Dear Partners,

Thank you again for your prayers, gifts and encouragement. We couldn’t do any of this without you!

The condo hasn’t sold, but people keep looking. We still expect to move to Springfield, MO the first week of January, when the Vandolsens move out of the house to leave for ministry in Italy. We want to get started with the new and increased involvement with the AG Missions Dept – research and other things, as well as the new church there. PRAY for the Lord’s timing & price – we believe it should be by the end of this month.

(Join our “Thanks-Living”, seeHelps for a Daily Walk with God” #2this “Thanksgiving” month.)

WE CONTINUE IN EU PRAYER MINISTRY:

We continue to work with the EU of Prayer in Europe, encouraging prayer and involvement in the EU and National Governments. As most of you know, the next trip will be March 1 – 14 – to join the EU of Prayer in Slovenia, and to meet with pastors and others in Rome, as well as Padua, where Laura & family will be helping establish an International Church. PRAY: for all of our preparations, health and  finances for this trip.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR:

1 - the prayer movements in Europe – especially Ortwin, chairman & the EUROPEAN UNION of PRAYER

2 - that new EU anti-terrorist air travel checks will prevent terrorism, without denying basic personal rights

3 - the other family and human rights policies of the EU and other European governments

4 - the Mideast policies of the EU – relation to Mediterranean Union

6 - the immigration policies of the EU - [Islamization – God’s alternative: an effective, witnessing church]

NEW DIRECTION FROM THE LORD; NEW POSSIBILITIES:

During the past 71/2 years, but especially during the last couple of years, while Hugh has been collecting information for the EU Review and Call to Prayer [EURCP]; he has also been collecting data on the Middle East and what many believe to be “the end times”. Although he had no clear outlets for its use; he continued collecting history and other information on the areas where the conflict was most relevant.

As he was listening to the news and praying recently, the Lord impressed him to write. A prophecy came forth in a way similar to the one that he had received in 1998, when his first wife had died and he was told to go to Europe to begin a prayer movement for the EU and that he would find a new wife as he began this [Norma].

The Word which Hugh received included that he was to continue his data collection work ‘in the area of the Middle-east and religious extremism, and make the nations aware” of the importance of the events occurring there. He was also to “begin to mobilize plans to develop a system of communication and understanding that will mobilize those who are in the position to make a major impact upon these events”.  The Lord also indicated that some major changes will occur in our life circumstances. [We do not know what this will mean.] Norma is also to be involved and we are to be prepared quickly.

There were more details – especially specifics matching the experience he has had in business and areas of ministry over the last more than 50 years; also the experiences of our seven + years of ministry together.

Religious extremism in Europe and a large part of the EurAsian continents will not accept the normal resolution of differences. How can we as non-combatants help to defuse this problem through prayer and strategic peaceful action? Our job now is to mobilize the support and information systems. Others are also being called to provide leadership; something similar is already being begun by intercessors and groups.

VETERAN’S DAY OBSERVANCE CONTACT 11/09 - OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH VETERANS:

We don’t know just what might be involved, but one of the military speakers at a Veteran’s Day Observance on November 9, has responded positively to Hugh’s offer to help in the resettlement and job placement of veterans. The speaker is CEO of an organization that helps veterans with this need. Hugh has been involved with this type of work before and is really interested. It could be just volunteer, or it could involve some income. As you know, Hugh has no desire to “retire”; but wants to “make a difference”, any way the Lord gives him the possibility. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE LORD’S WILL IN THIS, TOO!

As you see, God has shown us all kinds of possibilities. PLEASE PRAY our health & finances will keep up!

HELPS FOR A DAILY WALK WITH GOD #2

THANKS – LIVING all the time - or once a day, or once a year THANKSGIVING

Among the “all kinds of prayer” mentioned in Ephesians 6:18 is THANKSGIVING or GIVING OF THANKS. Hugh & I unite to share a few thoughts on this kind of prayer for this November study.

WHAT IS THANKS - LIVING?

As with all kinds of prayer, we should know that “thanksgiving”, or “giving of thanks”, is not to be a once - a - day or once - a – year practice; but a major part of our daily walk with our Saviour & our Father – God, led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. God has a plan for each or our lives. (See Ephesians 2:10) As we see Him working out His plan in each of our individual lives; it should make us even more grateful and thankful to Him for His grace.

HOW DO WE LIVE THIS WAY?

  • In order to live in a spirit of Thanksgiving; we need to remind ourselves and the Lord throughout each day of our total dependence on Him (John 15:5) to lead us in all areas, as well as His promises and all - power to help us. (Philippians 4:13)

FACT: We do not know what is happening inside of us, or around us, or what is coming next – He knows and cares; it is foolish to make any decisions or try to do anything without Him.

  • FULL COMMUNICATION: We need to ask Him to keep us sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit, so we will hear His voice as He says where and when to go & what to do (Not just to a “mission field” or public ministry!) but anywhere, anytime - to fulfill His special purposes for our individual lives. (Ephesians 1:18 Ephesians 2:10)

FACT: He is ready to talk to us (and listen) at any time – Read His Word and pray in the Holy Spirit and you will learn how to hear His voice. After all, if you are born again, He lives inside of you now

WHAT WILL THIS MEAN IN OUR DAILY LIVES?

  • As we become more sensitized to the presence of our God and His leading, we will thank Him for daily personal blessings - the laugh of a child, the special smile of a loved one; we will become more conscious of the beauty and power of His creation, and thank Him for it.
  • When we miss being involved in an accident, because we were “delayed”, or went a different way, when we didn’t fall or get hurt, when we almost did; we will thank Him.

(Note: You have probably heard of those who missed being in the 9/11 attack because of various “delays” and “hindrances” in getting to work that day, and of many rescue workers who were protected from harm!)

SOME BIBLE REASONS TO GIVE THANKS TO GOD – just a few of many!

  • HE IS GOD, who made us and takes care of us; His mercy never ends. (Psalm 100)
  • Jesus died & rose again so we could have an intimate relationship with God, the Father and intercedes for us constantly (Rom. 8:34); makes all things work together for His plan for us. (Rom. 8:28)
  • He forgives us, heals us, protects us, gives us many good things (Psalm 103:1-6

Finally, Scriptures to live by (among many!): Philippians 4:4 – 8; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22

Until next time - live in intimate fellowship with your God – in THANKS LIVING!

In constant thankfulness to Him, Hugh & Norma Davis
