1  NIGHTWATCH FOR EUROPE week beginning Sunday May 18th 2008

NIGHTWATCH FOR EUROPE week beginning Sunday May 18th 2008

‘Could you not watch with me for one hour?’ (Mtt26: 40)

WELCOME TO THE NIGHT WATCH FOR EUROPE

I am preparing these guidelines in the Canada House of Prayer in Ottawa. Founded in 2005 this houses a community committed to facilitating ongoing prayer for the Canadian parliament. Last week I was at Ashburnham Prayer and Conference Centre in England that has begun the first stage of restructuring its life around 24 hour prayer. Over the last two weeks of this watch we have been reflecting on the importance of understanding the times we are in, rejoicing at healing signs but not being distracted from the primary purpose of the clear prophetic direction of God. So this week we will continue to pray into that direction as the Lord continues to lead us know.

If you know of anyone who would also like to receive this night watch prayer bulletin each week, they can subscribe by going to www.passion.org.uk/announcemail  email us at admin@passion.org.uk

We suggested that it would be helpful to understand our prophetic location since 1990, in two year blocks (from September to September, following the Jewish New Year, up until 2000:

Intense disturbance (1990-92) - Intense intercession (92-94) - Intervention (from the Lord to the church) (94-96) - Positioning (96-98)- Perseverance (1998-2000)

Then from 2000 onwards, in four year blocks in reverse

Perseverance (2000 - 2004)- Positioning (04-08)- intervention (through the church into the world) (08-12)I - intercession (of the church for the world) (012-016) - Disturbance (in the world) (016-020)

1  A CRUCIAL TIME FOR SERBIA

European Union of Prayer, Chairman, Ortwin Schweitzer

To all interested Intercessors for Europe 21st of May 2008, ,

.[A PORTION OF A SPECIAL MESSAGE] I Dear friends…I feel that we are in a crucial time for Serbia. If the Anti-Europeans prevail Serbia will return to the trodden path of friendship with Russia. But this will mean a thorn in the flesh of the Balkan area because these countries are all Europe/EU-oriented. Therefore this would be dangerous both for the Balkan countries and also for the whole of Europe. There is much disappointment in Serbia about Europe and its role in the question of Kosovo. Yet the pro-European Alliance got the most voters. This means that in spite of the loss of Kosovo and all disappointment yet the greater part of the Serbian population wants to join the EU.

So this is a real European issue for us. Please let’s stand together and hold up Serbia before the throne of Grace. And let us pray for the small group of pastors from Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia coming together for reconciliation. May His Kingdom come

1  Latvia Prayer Month and Day of Prayer for the European Union

Date: 4/30/2008 6:03:28 P.M. Eastern Standard Time

From: donats_@hotmail.com

Hello Hugh and Norma!

Thank you for your reminder to pray for the EU. I will pass this call to others!

I have called Latvia to a month of worship and prayer and have received support from the cardinal, other leaders/congregations of Catholics, Baptists, Lutherans, Charismatics, Orthodox, Pentecostals, Salvation Army, Methodists and others. Truly a whole church, not just a protesting one, united for His purposes on Earth, in Latvia, just as in Heaven. We are primarily seeking God for more of His Spirit (Pentecost) and His support for the Family, His standard unit, through the very Christian Family Festivals increasing throughout Latvia and against the primarily EU and other anti-Christian global organizations attack on Latvia May 30th - June 1st

Subject: Today [9 May] is Europe Day! Date: 5/9/2008 11:03:33 A.M. Eastern Standard Time

From: office@europe4christ.net

Robert Schumann:  "We are called to bethink ourselves of the Christian basics of Europe by forming a democratic model of governance which through reconciliation develops into a “community of peoples” in freedom, equality, solidarity and peace and which is deeply rooted in Christian basic values.” (1958)

Today (the 9th of May) is Europe Day! On the European Union commemorates the Schuman-plan from 1950 which presented a first step in a European unification by merging the German and French coal and steel production. Robert Schumann was an exceptional politician who took his responsibility for Europe and its peoples seriously and who acted out of a deep Christian conviction.

EUOBSERVER / COMMENT - The European Parliament is unlike any other. There is no executive formed by a majority party and there is no official opposition. As befits the complex diversity of the union it serves, the parliament is pluralism personified.

It is a vast expanse of desert where conditions are so inhospitable that almost no one lives there. But for al-Qaeda – on the run in Iraq and under attack in Pakistan and Afghanistan – this stretch of the Algerian Sahara has proved fertile ground in its quest to open a new front on Europe’s southern doorstep. Intelligence sources and Western diplomats have told The Times that a new force – an Algerian group calling itself al-Qaeda in the Land of Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) – aims to create an arc of influence throughout North Africa by spreading Osama bin Laden’s “brand” through a fusion of disparate fundamentalist groupings.
