Minister Paavo Lipponen, there are now two official candidates in the race
to become the next Commission president. Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern,
currently holder of the rotating EU presidency, annnounced the most recent
candidate in an interview.

Europe's economy, grass roots protestors from their countries were protesting
about European citizens not having enough say over Europe's future.

If having a referendum on the European Constitution, it is most likely to take place on the same day as the European Parliament elections are held, 10-13 June 2004.
The European Constitution might be subject to referenda in half of the EU member states.
